Privacy Policy
Palesa is a guided timer for routines, operated by Sky Golden in Johannesburg, South Africa. Contact for this policy: support@palesa.app.
This version is written for a first release in the United States and South Africa.
What this policy covers
The Palesa mobile app and the Palesa waitlist website. It does not replace the policies of Google Play, Android backup, or other Google services we send you to.
The app
You do not need an account to use Palesa. There is no account wall before you run a routine.
Routines, timed activities, session notes, progress, and your in-app trial state are stored on your device. We do not currently run a Palesa cloud database for this data.
That is how the app works today. It is not a promise that Palesa will only ever store data on the device. If we add optional cloud sync, accounts, or anything that sends your routines to a Palesa server, we will update this policy before that ships.
On Android, the app allows Android Auto Backup. If that is enabled on your device, Google may back up app data and restore it after reinstall. That backup is Google’s service, not a Palesa server.
The app may show on-device reminders you set. Those are scheduled on the device. On Android, an optional lock-screen timer can show the current step while the phone is locked. That display stays on the device.
Adaptive suggestions (off by default) can learn from when you usually start a routine and suggest a start time. That learning stays on your device. Suggestions appear in the app only. They do not change your schedule unless you accept them.
The current Android path does not include third-party analytics, a marketing push list, or ads.
Trial and payments
Closed testing is free.
After first open, Palesa may unlock the full product for 7 days on that device. That trial is an in-app timer. It is not a Google Play “7-day trial” on the store listing. Trial state is stored on the device.
There is no payment on the waitlist website. Closed testing is free.
When the app is on the store and you buy through Google Play, Google processes that purchase. We do not take card numbers in the app.
The website
The waitlist page may collect an email address if you join the list and that form is connected. We would use that address only to write when Palesa is ready to try. It is not an app login. There is no buy button and no payment on the website.
The waitlist page loads a typeface from Google Fonts. If your browser fetches that file, Google may receive your IP address. The page does not include a third-party analytics script.
What we do not collect in the app today
- No Palesa account
- No Palesa server copy of your routines
- No payment on the waitlist website
- No ads, and no advertising ID for ads
- No third-party analytics on the current Android path
- No Play billing identity during closed testing
Sharing
We do not sell your information. We do not share it for cross-context advertising.
We share only what is required to run the pieces above: Google if you use Play or Android Auto Backup, or if your browser loads Google Fonts on the waitlist; an email tool if a waitlist form is connected later; Google Play billing only after production, if you buy in the store.
Retention
On-device data lasts until you delete the app, clear app data, or restore from backup. Waitlist email, if we have it, is kept until you ask to be removed or the list is shut down.
Your choices and rights
- Uninstall the app or clear app data to remove on-device routines from that device
- Turn off Android backup in system settings if you do not want Google to store a copy
- Turn off adaptive suggestions in Settings
- Ask to be removed from the waitlist at support@palesa.app
South Africa (POPIA). If we hold personal information about you (for example a waitlist email), you may ask us for access, correction, or deletion, or object to our using it. You may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
California (CCPA / CPRA). We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may ask us what we have collected and ask us to delete it. For the app today, that is mostly on-device data you can remove yourself. For a waitlist email, write to support@palesa.app.
This draft does not claim GDPR coverage. The first store markets are the United States and South Africa.
Children
Palesa is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us a waitlist email, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will update this page before the product starts collecting more (for example a Palesa server, analytics, accounts, or Play billing at production).
